Mambo Tribe Sunday Social Halloween
Halloween started this year with the Mambo Tribe's Sephanie & Mark- Anthony's Sunday Social.
Conveniently located at Dovercourt House, one block west of the Ossington Subway Station and one block North of Bloor Street W. the large venue with its high ceilings and wood floor make for a very relaxing late afternoon and early evening.
A large crowd turned out - many in costume - vying for the First Prize and took in a fun Casino Rueda class and Mark-Anthony's shines class.
Best Costume was a People's Choice - with a twist. Everyone coming in was given a ticket. They were asked to give their ticket to a person whose costume they thought was the best. It's a great way to meet people as one has to talk to people as they give a ticket or as a ticket is given.
DJ Mas played music for beginners and for the faster dancers - keeping everyone happy. Very reasonably priced soft drinks, fruit juices, and other drinks were available. The shoe ladies had many dangled many interesting baubles and club wear at the ladies.
This is a place for people of all ages to come and have fun, talk to a few people, dance a little or a lot - all in an easy going atmosphere that is a refreshing difference from the clubs.
At one point, Bong was seen chasing a "lady" in a blue skirt.
Around 8:00pm, the winners and one consolation prize was announced. The "Lady" in the blue skirt won, the Leaf Lady came in second, Carribean Boy came in third, and Crazy 88 could claim his prize provided he took a dance with the "Lady."
