With many people either performing in the Congress - the Toronto content in the 2007 performances is significant - getting sleep or saving their feet for four days of non-stop dancing, Ba Ba Luu and other venues have been quiet.
While taking in a little of a very tranquil and balmy Tuesday evening on Ba Ba Luu's patio, Super Mario wandered by. "It's quiet tonight," I said. "... People getting ready for the Congress."
"Yeah, that's what Jen said," Super Mario quipped as he went down the stairs and came in.
And with that, the 2007 Canada Salsa Congress may have started Tuesday night as famed instructor Super Mario, aka the Million Moves Man, dropped by Ba Ba Luu.
Perhaps the Million Moves Man should be called the Million Miles Man - Calgary on the week-end, Toronto on Tuesday, England the following Friday, Singapore 19 October, Indonesia 21 October, The Netherlands 26 October...
There was a lot of room to move as Super Mario worked his magic with some of the salseras who lined up to catch a dance with one of the most skilled leaders around today. Local expert Tawfiq was seen exchanging notes with Super Mario.
When asked why he was in Toronto so early, Super Mario smiled and said he was doing some workshops in Calgary on the week-end. He also said that he really likes Toronto, the people, and simply the whole place.
Catch Super Mario's workshops Saturday @ 2:00pm. & 3:00pm. and Sunday @ 2:00pm.
Mira's B-Day
Congress or not, Tuesday was a party night for Mira and her friends who celebrated her Bbirthday with dinner, a cake and a Birthday dance. It looks like they are just warming up for the Congress. Facebookers will find a few pix posted.
