Dance to Live Paula plotted and schemed and planned something different for Jose's birthday.
Surreptitious notes appeared on the social networking site Facebook. Not a surprise, but a surprise! And it wasn't in the Dance To Live Bathurst Street studio either.
People were directed to register on a guestlist with an 8:00pm. Tuesday evening entry to 6 Degrees.
The upstairs lounge was the party room for the night with a bar, music and a snack laden table.
About ten minutes after H-Hour Paula arrived with Jose. He knew something was up. However, it was the scale, the size of the party that lay in wait for him, that was the surprise.
People from within the DTL studio and others all took their turns wishing Jose a happy and lucky 40th birthday. They also signed a billboard sized card, one memento that will not soon be forgotten.
Then was showtime! Lucky Sipin did his masked mime routine, gold this time out. Jena, caught them off guard with a hip hop routine and hyper flexible shoulders that had to be seen to be believed, and Young & Kim performed a new routine for the enthusiastic gathering - and Jose.
An organic carrot cake emblazoned with a big sparkler 40 capped off the evening.
But it wasn't over yet. After the first set of Six Degrees' live band, Jose was tossed out into a big birthday circle and danced with all comers.
Who said it was all over at 40...
