A dance's future direction is often set in Congresses or workshops or anyplace where instructors, performers and participants gather.
The 7th Canada Salsa Congress brought Latin Hustle and Bachata to the Salsa market in a very big way if the numbers of people taking those workshops is any indication. At the very least, the fun that people had taking workshops shows that Congresses are alive and well.
The obvious aspect of the workshops is the social dimension where people can meet dancers from other cities or even other continents.
The not so known aspect of workshops are instructors from smaller centres in Canada and the United States taking and trying to absorb as much as they possibly can during a Congress week-end. Often they are the only salsa instructor in their area and are bringing as much back as possible to pass onto their students, furthering the universal reach of Salsa.
Short people videos coming to www.youtube.com/Salsat07thCSC.
Editor's Notes:
Stage Right and part of Stage Centre lighting was not compatable for photography. Apologies to performers who were on those parts of the stage.
