The circus came to town Saturday 13 June as iFreeStyle.ca celebrated 4 years of On2 fun!
Early arrivals wandered down a real honest to goodness Midway. The more games one played, the more tickets one could win for prizes ranging from dance cards to Canada Salsa Congress passes. Learn how to juggle - bouncing balls, not one's partner. Enter the spinning contest. The more spins done before falling down, the more tickets and chances one won. Ring toss, mini putt and more.
The Circus continued with 60+ dancers in the Jack & Jill competition. First up were the amateurs. A quick look in the lobby and out in the laneway found men and women lined up in rows, pinning on numbers. Despite the laughs at his draw, "F" made it to the semis no less. Some imaginative moves came out during the heats to choose the top three.
Ana, Rene Delgado and Oscar Naranjo had the unenviable task of choosing who would stay and who would go.
In the end it was David Charing & Mridu Das, who also won a spot in the 7 August 2009 TwoSomeDance.com Jack & Jill competition hosted by iFreeStyle.ca. Finalists included Joaquin & Julie; David & Pam.
Right after the amateurs danced their hearts out to an appreciative crowd, the pros came out. Guess who appropriated "J"?
You guessed it! Java. And with a lot of style, panache and a little luck in drawing a follower, Java won with Stephanie. Finalists included Joey & Michel; JP & Shelley.
iFreeStyle's own Moe catered the hot buffet - roast chicken, spiced with turmeric rice, beans - and salad; making this a true group effort.
Dovercourt House's Andy and his gang, familiar faces to those on the Salsa Social scene, ran the bar and even had a special iFreestyle cocktail.
HamiltonSalsa.com Marie, brought a vat, yes, a literal vat of Timmy's best coffee for later in the evening, and a few boxes of Tim bits too!
A wonderful anniversary cake, trays of fresh watermelon and pineapple rounded off dessert and snacks to fininish the night of DJ Gio's tunes.
