Competition is back in Toronto!
After a four year hiatus of open salsa competition in Toronto, competing couples gathered to show their stuff to judges and vie for significant prizes. The Professional class winner gets a trip for 2 to Bermuda to perform @ Aug. 2008 Mambo Nights - Airfare & Accomodations. The Amateur class winner gets a trip for 2 to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic - Airfare & Accomodations.
Three amateur couples competed in the first 3rd Winter Salsa Carnival Competition at Dovercourt Sunday 13 January.
Mark-Anthony even got the judges to strut their stuff, something that really caught the capacity crowd by surprise.
Stephanie & Bong(not judging); Teddy & Estelle; Angus & Vanesa did the 'faites ton step" before settling into the serious business of scoring competitors.
The competing couples each danced to about two minutes of mid tempo music selected by the DJ.
In order with scores: First - Mitchell F. & Charina A. with 261 points; Second - Joey L. & Michel C. with 249 points; Third - Jenzy T. & Anya S. with 241 points.
The first two couples advance to the semi finals, the third couple can compete again in the next heat Sun. 27 Jan. 2008.
Congratulations to all the couples who put it all out in front of five judges and hundred of cheering screaming fans!
