2011 Lula World opened to a full house Thursday 12 May with Toronto's own Amanda Martinez.
Backed this evening with Alex Brown on Trumpet, Osvaldo, Pablosky on Tres, Paco on Bass and Roger, the crowd was treated to old and new tunes including "Tomalo," "Sonando, "Volar."
Amanda surprised the audience with guitarist, songwriter and arranger Fernando Osario who 'borrowed' Amanda's band for several of his own works.
Amanda and Fernando then reached back with "Mexican Song" to celebrate her Tio Arturo's 80th birthday along with Gustavo and Sandra.
Some of the crowd got some dancing in with a snappy version of "Guajira Sola" and "Nuevos Caminos."
The crowd was left wanting more as the last notes of "La Negra Tiene Tumbao" echoed away.
