IFFA & Shiamak Davar International (Toronto)Yonge - Dundas Square

Toronto's Yonge-Dundas Square, barely recovered from Friday's Bollywood flash mobs
, transformed into a show stage and movie theatre with Song, Dance, henna painting and more dance Friday evening and Saturday.

Tabla player, Kiran Morarji played a blistering non-stop 45 minute set on the twin traditional drum set Saturday 11 June, his hands and fingers effortlessly tapping out complex rhythms, one after another, after another.

After a short pause, it was Mumbai based, world renowned Shiamak Davar Dance's Shiamak Davar International (Toronto) Teen troupe taking the stage and putting out a show sending off at least three Bollywood motion pictures. They could have been at home on any Bollywood set anywhere.

Bollywood movies feature complex dance routines and in one sense the word Bollywood is synonymous with both the motion picture and the dance form.

Bollywood dance while not yet on Western radars, is a growing phenomenon combining classic forms including Bhangra, Kathka and Indian Classical and western genres such as funk with a potential base of millions.

Shiamak Davar dancers will be performing Saturday 25 June at the Rogers Centre for the IFFA Awards ceremonies and show.
