Salsa @ the Vue

A bright mural dominating one wall of a humble house in Toronto's Lawrence Avenue West and Dufferin district is the first clue of something special as SalsaTO entered a new medium Saturday 10 July 2010.

That house, the San Lorenzo American Community Centre has a real surprise in the basement.

Radio Voces Latina CHHA 1610AM, Toronto's only full time Spanish speaking radio station creates and broadcasts programming from that basement.

A 6:00pm. Radio Voces Latina CHHA 1610AM interview with Manuela and Jenny introduced Toronto's Latin American community to Salsa and a website where information about Salsa in Toronto can be found.

Radio Voces Latina CHHA 1610AM was licensed by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in 2003, and launched on 25 November 2004.

Voces Latinas was conceived by San Lorenzo Latin American Community Centre to extend their reach and knowledge of their services to Toronto's diverse Latin American community.

What Voces Latinas does is bring the community together by combining cultural and social issues focussing on politics, immigration, health, Latin America, sport, seniors, gender, youth and children’s programs and music.

Radio Voces Latina's programming languages reflect the ideas and artistic talents of the community and include: Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese and Tagalog.

Radio Voces Latina CHHA 1610AM also showcases Toronto musical talent, by interviewing local musicians and playing the music of some of Toronto's well known Latin, Latin jazz, mambo, salsa, merengue, Bachata, Cumbia, Bolero, and Andean bands.

Catch Radio Voces Latina CHHA 1610AM on the AM radio band or live on the website San Lorenzo American Community Centre
